Poem:
PERSON 1: Von Hippel-Lindau, VHL for short,
PERSON 2: A rare condition we need your support.
PERSON 3: A genetic mutation that leaves a scar,
PERSON 4: For 1 in 36,000, fighting here and afar.
PERSON 5: Tumours arising, so suddenly,
PERSON 6: Blood vessels growing where they shouldn’t be.
PERSON 7: The eyes, the brain, the kidneys too,
PERSON 8: Nothing is safe, no tissue immune.
PERSON 9: The symptoms can vary, from mild to severe,
PERSON 10: Beneath the surface but always near.
PERSON 11: It’s a waiting game, an uncertain fate,
PERSON 12: The hope of clear scans, until the next date.
PERSON 13: But amidst the darkness, a glimmer of light,
PERSON 14: The strength of the human will to fight.
PERSON 15: The love of family, the support of friends,
PERSON 16: With the power of research, we’ll find an end.
PERSON 17: For each VHL warrior, it’s a heavy load,
PERSON 18: But with faith and courage, it can be slowed.
PERSON 19: So let’s come together, hand in hand,
PERSON 20: To face this disease and make our stand.
