VHL UK/Ireland and Cancer52 have been selected as the chosen charities for this years Vixstar Charity Ball.
The event will be held on Saturday 30th September in Peterborough and expects to see up to 250 guests attend to raise vital funds for both cancer related charities. The evening promises an action-packed night with welcome fizz and slap up three-course meal, DJ and entertainment into the early hours, a photographer. Funds will be raised on the night through a silent auction and raffle, with the chance to win some fabulous prizes.
All proceeds will be split between the two charities, which both support rare cancers conditions.
VHL UK/Ireland supports von Hippel Lindau (VHL) disease patients battle a series of malignant and benign tumours/cysts their whole lives, commonly occurring on the brain, spine, eyes, kidneys, adrenal glands and pancreas.
Cancer52 is an alliance of over 100 organisations working to address this inequality and improve outcomes for patients with these highly challenging diseases. 55% of UK cancer deaths are from rare and less common cancers.
Ran by a group of volunteers under the name Vixstar, the causes touch the heart of the three organisers, Roxanne Bonin, Vicky Foulkes-Arnold and Frankie Goddard.
Roxanne and Frankie, both VHL patients (or VHL warriors, as the VHL community coins), have experienced multiple tumours and surgeries between them and have been on a mission to support the UK/Ireland charity for several years. Vicky has experienced challenges within her family, of which Cancer52 supports lesser known cancers that are close to her heart. Roxanne has also recently fundraised for Cancer52, in memory of her friend Louise Marshall, who passed away from a rare cancer.
