I decided to run this year’s Perkins Great Eastern Half Marathon for a number of reasons.
Firstly, VHL UK/Ireland, which raises funds for research into von Hippel Lindau disease & supports patients. VHL patients battle a series of tumours and cysts throughout their lives; from brain, spine & eyes to kidneys, adrenals & pancreas.
Secondly, I feel fit enough to train for it, 2 & a half years post Whipple op. I made a promise that while I am healthy & after last year’s 5k I had no excuse to get off my bum & do this!
Thirdly, recently a VHL patient that I have known for a number of years has been diagnosed with what I had 2 years ago. Something I thought was so rare it wouldn’t happen to anyone else I knew. I sat & thought, this F*CKING disease- it just doesn’t stop!
No matter how little a donation, thank you for supporting patients and their battles.
Please donate.
