We’re a small team who are doing the Gladiator Gauntlet in honour of Michael Samuel and to raise much needed awareness and funds for VHL UK/Ireland.
3 years ago we lost my brother, Michael Samuel, to a rare form of cancer called VHL. I will never say he lost his battle because Michael never gave into VHL. He continued on with his life, to the best of his abilities, with strength and gentle humour – Michael was the bravest man I have ever known. Each year myself and a small group of family and friends come together to honour Michael by doing some sort of sporting activity as he loved to run.
This year myself and a team of (hopefully!!) 9 others will be taking part in the 5k Gladiator Gauntlet obstacle course in Manchester. We are taking part in this event, not only for Michael, but to raise awareness and much needed funds for the charity VHL UK/Ireland.
VHL UK/Ireland is an organisation which is dedicated to supporting those who suffer from VHL and similar diseases, providing funds for research into the genetic conditions and to help the public to understand and learn about these conditions.
Myself and my team would like to thank you for taking the time to visit this page and hopefully giving as much or as little as you can for a worthy charity.
We will be running in the 5k Gladiator Gauntlet Games in Manchester. It is a run with a number of obstacles accompanied by lots of mud and water!!! Three of the favourite obstacles are: the monkey bars with mud underneath, the belly slide (there’s the water!!) and the flume of doom!!!
